Community Starts Here

Leadership Columbiana County

Strong communities don’t happen by accident. That’s why since 1999, the Leadership Columbiana County program has been bringing together professionals from across industries and backgrounds to get to know the place they live and work in.

Through direct exposure to the people, decisions, and challenges that shape this county every day, participants come in as professionals and leave as more informed leaders.

Over nine months, you'll go behind the scenes to see the decisions that shape everyday life here: farms, hospitals, courtrooms, classrooms, city halls. You'll meet the people running them, wrestle with the challenges they face, and come away with a clearer picture of what Columbiana County is and what it could be.

What Will I Do?

One full day per month, September through May; each session goes deep on a different sector through community tours, guest speakers, panel discussions, and hands-on experiences. Between sessions, independent fieldwork assignments keep the learning going. The program opens with an orientation and ropes course and closes with graduation.

Sessions cover:

•  Agriculture & natural resources

•  Education

•  Healthcare

•  Government & legal systems

•  Economic & industrial development
